đź’Ą Our First Month in Action: Turning Outrage Into Outreach

If you’d told me a year ago that I’d be running an activist apparel brand that donates to nonprofits every month, I would’ve laughed. I’m just a dad who was fed up — trying to build something meaningful, provide a better life for my kids, and leave the world a little better than I found it.

But over the past few months, that simple idea — what if a t-shirt could actually do some good? — turned into Democratee’s.

We launched our very first campaign in September, with $5 from every shirt going to RAICES, a nonprofit that helps immigrant families navigate the U.S. legal system and find safety and stability.

And while we’re still small, every movement starts somewhere.

We sold 9 shirts in our first month — which means $45 donated.
I rounded it up to $50 and covered the fees myself, because every dollar matters and I wanted to start this thing the right way: with full transparency and real impact.

Was it perfect? Not even close.
I’ve learned about everything from ad campaigns to automation, and from Shopify setup to donation tracking — mostly by trial and error. But that’s part of the journey. Democratee’s isn’t just about shirts; it’s about building a system that makes giving back effortless.

I’m proud of where we started, and even more excited about where we’re headed.

For October, we’re shifting our focus to youth mental health, supporting organizations that make sure kids and teens get the help they deserve — starting with our featured nonprofit, NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness).

Each month, we’ll keep the mission going: new themes, new causes, same $5 donation model — and a transparent record of where every dollar goes.

Because outrage doesn’t change anything on its own. But when you channel it into action — that’s where the real impact happens.

✍️ Founder’s Note

Building Democratee’s from scratch has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life. I’m learning as I go, making plenty of mistakes, but I’m committed to getting it right — because the mission matters.

Thank you to everyone who believed in this little experiment of turning outrage into outreach.
Here’s to month two — and to proving that everyday people can still make a real difference.
